Community Mental Health Association of Michigan (CMHAM) & Michigan Primary Care Association (MPCA)
The Michigan team hosted a successful practice transformation academy with 28 members on alternate payment methodology (APM) approaches, which helped shape the official redesign of the state behavioral health system to include expanded focus on integrated care funded through APM approaches. CMHA worked with the MPCA to develop a Behavioral Health Telehealth Resource Center including a Project ECHO initiative to provide real-time telehealth-related support to Michigan safety-net providers. Additionally, CMHA and MPCA served as key advocates and resources for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) as they worked to expand behavioral health home models and opioid health home projects as well as working toward Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic-designation.
Successes:
Twenty-eight organizations, both Medicaid payers and provider members of CMHA, participated in a year-long Practice Transformation Academy, leading to concrete efforts to advance value-based payment.
Provided technical assistance to over 800 clinicians through the Behavioral Health Telehealth Resource Center.
Advanced the implementation of behavioral health home model and expansion of opioid health homes
