Iowa Primary Care Association & Iowa Association of Community Providers
The Iowa PCA and IACP conducted capacity assessments to better understand the ability of current health centers to integrate behavioral health services, which informed the need to adopt the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model. The CCBHC model presented a myriad of opportunities for revisiting partnerships and establishing new partnerships between CCBHCs and health centers, including around data sharing and care coordination. Iowa PCA analyzed state-level opportunities and barriers to data sharing to support care coordination efforts among newly certified CCBHCs and health centers and documented how the CCBHC model presents new opportunities for partnership for FQHCs and CCBHCs in terms of coordinating care.
Successes:
FQHCs were listed as eligible distant sites by Medicaid for Telehealth.
All state association members prioritized behavioral health integration and expanded workforce.
Developed a capitated alternative payment model.
