Oklahoma Primary Care Association & Oklahoma Behavioral Health Association
OKPCA and OBHA joined forces to accelerate opportunities for behavioral health integration and value based payment as Oklahoma expanded Medicaid and transitioned to Medicaid managed care. The team developed shared policy agendas, trainings, and conferences to encourage collaboration between community health centers, community behavioral health organizations (CBHOs), certified community behavioral health clinics (CCBHCs), and other community-based providers. In order to ensure historically underserved and underrepresented Oklahomans have access to equitable and affordable health care, OKPCA and OBHA provided training and technical assistance on advancing racial health equity and working authentically with community members. Oklahoma’s team engaged policymakers, health plans, providers, and patients to strengthen health care delivery and improve health outcomes and access.
Successes:
- Co-hosted a Health Equity and Social Drivers of Health Learning Collaborative for members to learn more about health equity and receive coaching on pilot projects.
- Co-located the behavioral health and primary care associations in the same office to foster collaboration and the provision of joint training.
- Strengthened linkages between CBHOs and CHCs to forge partnerships and pursue co-location arrangements. Facilitated the participation of six CBHOs in a clinically integrated network led by FQHCs.
